Module 1: SWOT Analysis, Problem Statement and Campaign Plan. DUE WEDNESDAY, January 26th, before midnight.

Refer to your readings and independent research over SWOT, problem statements and campaign plans. Once you have properly identified the meaning and purpose of each component, imagine you are providing consulting services for a growth-stage business. A growth-stage business is one that is ready to scale (i.e., expand or grow). Such growth may focus on the U.S. market or the international market. This organizational category is defined broadly for the purpose of this assignment to enable a wide range of options. Good examples are companies that recently received early-stage funding of over $1 million and have expressed interest in developing a "user generation strategy" or another form of expansion. The best example of a growth-stage company is one you would feasibly work for right after college, or a company that would soon create new positions as it expands.

Your company/organizational selection may not be fictitious. Meaning, it must actually exist in the marketplace. Furthermore, it's important to identify which companies receive growth capital or have made announcements pertaining to growth. In doing so, you will develop the resources and skills necessary to identify job opportunities or client sources.

Any problem stated or campaign strategy drafted must have some realistically conceptual application to the existing situation of the company/organization selected. Understandably, you may have to create some fictitious elements of your consulting practice to fulfill the assignment. However, it is not permissible to make up facts or "new realities" of any kind about the company/organization that you have selected. You must provide sources with hyperlinks and citations to support your information.

Below are your requirements for this assignment:

  • Describe the company or organization for which you are providing consulting services. This means, provide a detailed profile of the company (1-5 paragraphs).

  • Define a SWOT analysis and provide its application to the active stage of your company/organizational selection (1-3 paragraphs). Develop a SWOT Analysis for your company/organizational selection (1 page or less).

  • Define a problem statement and provide its application to the active stage of your company/organizational selection (1-3 paragraphs). Develop a problem statement for your company/organizational selection (1 page or less).

  • Define a campaign plan and provide its application to the active stage of your company/organizational selection (1-3 paragraphs). Develop the blueprints of a campaign plan for your company/organizational selection (1 page or less).

Module 2: Traditional and Social Media News Release, Media Advisory and Radio PSA. DUE WEDNESDAY, February 11th, before midnight.

This module requires that you find three samples of the following: traditional news release, social media news release, media advisory and radio PSA. These may be drawn from a simple Internet search. Template-formats of the aforementioned PR docuemnt-types is permissible as well. Before submitting three of each PR document-type, memorize the format and structure of the documents for future use and understanding.

Choose one of the following PR document-types of this module to draft an original document that pertains to your company/organizational selection (refer to your work from module 1). In other words, along with the samples/templates you identify from an Internet search (and subsequently study for your understanding), you will write only one document. Your one document may be one of the following: traditional news release, social media news release, media advisory or radio PSA.
